Paula Waggoner-Aguilar is the Founder and Managing Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for The Energy CFO and its healthcare division, The Healthcare CFO. While working for The Energy CFO, she has served as a CFO advisor to more than 20 private companies and family-owned businesses involved in various areas of the energy value chain. Paula’s expertise and dedication have been recognized through numerous accolades, including Best CFO award for Private Companies from the San Antonio Business Journal and being listed in Who’s Who in Energy. She is also the recipient of the NAWBO Small Business Owner Award and holds the distinction of being the founding president of the Women’s Energy Network South Texas Chapter.
Before becoming an entrepreneur in 2013, Paula held various senior leadership positions in finance, including CFO and business controller, upstream planning and commercial risk management, and corporate financial controller. She worked for companies such as Lewis Energy Group, Buckeye Partners LP and GP, BHP Billiton Petroleum, Suez Energy LNG North America, Suez Energy Development North America, and Tractebel Mexico. Paula began her career in the 1990’s in the oilfield and manufacturing industry as an internal auditor in Latin America for Dresser Industries (and later for Halliburton) and in the gas and power industry in finance for Enron International (Brazil) and M&A accounting for Duke Energy Latin America. She is also a tax alumna of EY (Dallas).
In addition to her extensive professional experience, Paula is a Texas CPA. She holds a Master’s degree in Taxation from University of North Texas and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington.
